The Mega Millions Lotto Frenzy, or "Aww i only won $7???"?

So after three weeks of headline news, the final jackpot of $640 million (estimated) has been won. Tickets were sold in three locations:

Red Bud, Illinois (quick pick)
Baltimore County, Maryland
Northeast Kansas

Winning number 2-4-23-38-46, Mega Ball 23.

The odds of the mega number being the same as the first 5 were pretty rare. but then again, so are all the numbers. I myself was part of three separate pools, with my office's $5 being the largest (18 tickets).

Alas, none of us got even close to a "jackpot". Two got 3 numbers, which netted $7 each. getting the megaball number got us $2, and one megaball & one number got us $3. A lot of other people i've seen on fb got small amounts, and no doubt anyone participating in one of history's largest lotto fever won something. But how do you split such small winnings among a group of  people?

Well, here's a few fair ways:

  • dozen donuts
  • a ton of donut holes
  • bucket of KFC
  • water balloons for a water balloon fight
  • more lotto tickets
  • scratchers
  • a 6-pack of beer
  • cookies
  • a trip to dave & busters

Of course, you can always ask for pennies at your local bank and be that cheap. Until the next half-billion dollar jackpot...

Jiro Dreams of Sushi – Movie Review

This is my first real attempt at reviewing a movie; minor spoiler alert as this is my first time. Next time I must remember to bring a notepad to take notes while viewing; wonder how the real critics do this?

“Jiro Dreams of Sushi” has been passed through many food blogs as a must-see film about the most revered and famous sushi chef, Jiro Ono. For a person that loves food, loves sushi (but doesn’t eat sashimi), this is one film I’d rate as the best for 2012.

Prometheus - Wonder Con 2012 Trailer

San Diego's Comic-Con precursor (Wonder-Con) is usually held in San Francisco's Moscone Center. great for my friends in SF that don't have to travel far to get some great sneak peeks without a hefty daily price. However for 2012 Moscone is under renovations so they moved Wonder-Con to Anaheim. Still waiting to see the opinions of the new location, but already a few have said it's just not the same.

Anyways, here's one film I've followed since SDCC 2011; Ridley Scott's new spiritual prequel to the "Alien" saga. The new trailer:

Original? probably. Eye-opening? maybe. The fact that Scott is back at the helm of the franchise that he started? I'll def be watching this opening weekend.

Here's a screenshot of the infamous "space jockey" from the first "Alien" movie:

Tahoe Trip - Kirkwood

A quick teaser from this past weekend's company trip to Tahoe. Eight hour drive from LA, not a problem at all. Great way to spend a weekend, much needed vacation. Roulette & blackjack wasn't too friendly to me, but i"ll learn my lesson. Will upload pics soon

Carmelogeddon

Bill Kostroun/Associated Press
As fast as Linsanity brought the fans back to the Knicks, Carmelo's return has created a cloud that will ruin the synergy of a team. Why can't people just learn to put aside their egos and play as a team? better to lose as a team than win as an individual.

It's Carmelogeddon out there. and the only cure is more Linsanity.
