Again Neglected, But Big News Ahead...

So once again I'm leaving readers with teasers, and little else. Just finished relocating back to San Francisco from LA, and the last 8 weeks have been a blur.

However, a few things are definitely coming up that to me is a huge step since I first started this blog and photography in general. Landing right in the middle of America's Cup in the SF Bay and getting caught up in it has led to a few opportunities that hopefully will come to fruition.

In addition, my Bigma has gotten a lot more use. I am to give in-depth reviews of famous (and not so well known) vantage points for beginner photographers to get the best shot while not breaking their bank.

Because we know money can always get you a helicopter to ride on for a better shot...

San Diego Comic-Con, Mk III TEASER

as I sit buzzed off a Beck's Sapphire about to head out to Hard Rock cafe in San Diego's Gas Lamp, I wanted to post a teaser from today's arduous Hall H panel. Was up since 3am, got there by 4am, and left the hall at 7PM.

I'll be posting select photos here, but the main album can be viewed at: https://www.facebook.com/yunofilm

I hate to do this, but liking it will mean you'll get periodic updates and any new posts on this blog as well. Without further ado....

FYI, the Sigma 50-500mm really pulled its weight this weekend. I couldn't ask for anything more. Also, a thanks to Melissa, a random stranger who stopped by the Hall H lines to hand out coffee and lattes. I am forever in your debt! Also, met a friend named Nick who also brought coffee (in exchange for a sweet 4am spot in line) as well as two shots of booze to celebrate the 12 hours spent in line and in panels!

GEAR REVIEW: JLab Pro Roller Camera Spinner Bag

Here goes my first gear review!

A week ago a Groupon deal came up for a camera bag. Specifically, a carry-on luggage style bag for $50. The JLab Pro Roller Camera Spinner Bag was listed everywhere else for at least $120, and similar bags from name brand manufacturers ranged up to $500. Similar to all my GoPro gear scattered everywhere before I consolidated them, my camera gear usually occupied my tables, my couch, and sometimes my coffee table. This deal seemed perfect to find a storage solution for my lenses and DSLR body.

This past weekend I re-visited for the 4th time the first city I felt I could live in besides SF.

2013-06-06 LAPD Homeland Security Demonstration

So I got an email this morning about "potential traffic disruptions" in downtown LA. when it's big enough to notify building tenants, it's usually road closures for a TV show or movie. The description however was presented like this:

Disneyland 24 Hour Opening & Night Shoot

so i wait until a 3-day weekend to get my first post in awhile in. Still feel like there's a lot on my plate but this will suffice for now...

Jist of things: Disneyland is promoting the new "Monsters University" movie, openning June 21st. For that, they opened the park up for a full 24 hours, Friday 24th @ 6am to Saturday 25th @ 6am. I purchased a discounted parkhopper pass almost a year ago and hadn't found a time to use it just yet. When it comes to fun activities, I prefer to arrive early and leave early. Seeing that a standard day at disneyland usually lasts 10am-9pm and my last jaunt was 4 years ago w/ an ex, there was really only one or two things I wanted to see. But the biggest thing to look forward to was night photography.

Total Neglect

wow, last post was over 2 months ago...this is getting sad. I have a backlog of posts, including reviews of all my travel gear as well as my recent Coachella trip. Still working on the GoPro Hero 3 review, but April has been super busy every weekend.

since April's almost over, let's hope May finds some free time...

Sale on USB Batteries - 6000mAh + 5000mAh

Here's a great deal i got in my inbox today from NewTrent, a makeer of USB batteries. Specifically, mobile batteries w/ USB ports. I use them a lot when doing 4+ hour time lapses with the gopro, or just general travel charging. I bought two of their iCurve IMP70D 7000mAh units, which is has been updated to the Easypak NT70T 7000mAh. Two USB ports mean being able to charge two devices at once, which when limited to one (or no) outlet can mean a big difference.

2012 - Year of the Flash Mob

I've seen so many recent flash mob videos. Most involve dancing, a few revolve around horror. But this one tops the cake, even if it is a "true story" ad.

For once, a flash mob that isn't for entertainment, but rather support of those who strive to entertain us with their passion.
