2013-06-06 LAPD Homeland Security Demonstration

So I got an email this morning about "potential traffic disruptions" in downtown LA. when it's big enough to notify building tenants, it's usually road closures for a TV show or movie. The description however was presented like this:

LAPD Anti Terrorism Exercise/Demonstration 10-11:30am/Figueroa between 4th & 5th

This will involve the following: 

·       “Blank” gunfire,

·       Low flying helicopters,

·       LAPD officers repelling from the helicopters, and

·       Police vehicles coming in at high rates of speed with lights and sirens on.

This is a notification for Property Managers and Directors of Security that this is a DEMONSTRATION only and not a real time emergency.   The LAPD asks that you please notify all tenants and visitors of this event, so that they can plan appropriately.  Along with this event, there will  be some temporary street closures.  

I knew that this was definitely something to capture with my little-used Sigma 50-500mm, so in it went to my messenger bag. Sadly, I didn't throw in my hotshoe tripod adapter to film the entire event.
