Peter Weyland's 2023 TED Talk

My first glance at Ridley Scott's new film "Prometheus" was at Comic-Con 2011. great panel, a direct interview with Scott filming near the north pole, and Charlize Theron talking about her role as a "spiritural" precursor to Ripley from the "Alien" series.

Between the recent "Predators" and "AvP" movies and the upcoming "Prometheus", it will be very interesting on how the film will end. Scott has insisted that "Prometheus" is NOT a prequel to his first A"lien" film, but having Guy Pierce play Peter Weyland and the corporation "Weyland Yutani" appear in the
1978 "Alien" film means a surprise ending will be instore.

Can't wait! fyi, move is completed, stay tuned for a post on the new apt

Ong-Bak - SWAT Style

in the middle of the move, procrastinating as usual. check out the newest trailer for "The Raid"; its great to see a movie from SE Asia get recognition. Hollywood's fight choreography just doesn't cut it anymore.

Sorry for the absence...

Work's been a toll and i'm in the process of moving apartments. Look for a timelapse of the move and hopefully some more posts! For now, here's a CAD plan of the new digs; ~25 sq ft bigger, 200$/month less, but a smaller (and less dressed up) kitchen.

2012 Film/Cinematography Camera Comparison Chart

There's a ton of blogs I subscribe to via Google Reader, and one of them is NinoFilm (http://ninofilm.net/blog/) His site mainly focuses on DSLR filmaking after Canon's release of the T2i in Febuary 2010 and the niche market it filled. In a recent post, a chart of the most commonly used film cameras used in today's youtube/blockbuster/indie films was listed out so that one could compare sensor sizes, rental rates, and other tech specs of what the pros and amateurs use.

Page 1 of 2, seems that these ar the cream of the crop

Page 2 of 2, with some Phantom cameras pushing 2564fps at 1080p

There you go. The first post about "where's the film". It's above, in sensor sizes, gigabytes per second, and insane frame rates. Check out the list of films each camera as used in as well; the Canon EOS C300 made it in there, along with the RED Scarlet. Rental rates seem reasonable, but check with your local stores (the chart was based out of Chicago).

2012 Guinness Believer Event in Culver City

A few weeks ago an event popped up on Facebook on someone else’s wall that I had to jump on: a private Guinness event with free beer! I was in Brisbane in 2009 during the 250 year anniversary but did not partake in any of the festivities; this was the time to make up for it. V & Y were going with, but V had to back out last minute due to the flu. This one’s for you!
